La Paz, Bolivia, aug 12 - aug 14, 2012

The city of La Paz is built at an elevation of 3660m above sea level. The city is located in a canyon and extends up to steep hills and mountains. Mini buses and Micros (city buses) crowding the streets and people trying to catch their breath after climbing hills are among the special sights to be seen in a (de facto) capital city of this size. Women, especially the older generation, still wear the traditional dress from colonial times and are called Cholas. The small witches' market in the city center with all sorts of goods for sale, from talismans to llama fetuses, makes for an interesting stroll. We loved the vibe of La Paz and the unusual landscape around it!
